Roadtrek RS - MB Conversion Kit Installation

I would like to get any feedback from any one who had the MB conversion kit work done by either themselves or a body shop as to fit, ease of installation, paint match, etc.

RE: Dodge vs Freightliner Sprinter Roadtrek

I e-mailed a technical sales representative, that I have been communicating with over the course of my purchase due diligence, at Roadtrek and asked about differences being explicit as to my concerns i.e. interiors, chassis, external, etc. She said except for badging no difference(except for one possible difference that did exist on several of them that had manual mirrors vs powered)which would make sense as I think all of them are produced here in Charleston,SC.

RE: Dodge vs Freightliner Sprinter Roadtrek

Zero difference. They are just rebadged Mercedes Benz.
If I were buying an Adventurous or Agile, I would much prefer it have the Freightliner badge, as opposed to the Dodge badge.
Freightliner on the front looks cooler than Dodge.

I'm going to re-badge mine to M-B which may be even cooler:B

RE: MSRP Discount

Henrye, we purchased the Roadtrek (18% off list) at John's RV Sales and Service in Lexington, SC. Here's the web address: http://www.johnsrv.com/
They have more RV's on the lot than are listed on the website. If you call ask for Chris Rawls.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks - they were one of 5 that I asked to quote. They were not the lowest but I bought from them this morning. They did the 18%. I got one just slightly lower ($410) but the distance to drive there vs John's would have eaten up that amount and it essentially made a local buy at least it was SC

Dodge vs Freightliner Sprinter Roadtrek

What if anything is the difference between the two chassis and does the selection impact where service will be performed ?

RE: MSRP Discount

Had an interesting experience at Dick Gore RV World yesterday. I gave them a sheet I had made up containing a table listing all the options I wanted for a Roadtrek RS and MSRP prices (from a couple of Roadtrek MSRP Bulletins I had come up with from them and another dealer). I left blank the Roadtrek itself and delivery. I went there because I thought it would be of some value to shop close to home if possible. I told them I had received a quote from another dealer giving 18.7% off MSRP. They did the long stay in office thing and came out and presented a piece of paper stating that the list price was $118,147 and a discount price of $96,053 i.e. a 18.7% discount. I've worked for hours looking at web sites and doing numbers and never seen a list price, which they verbally described as MSRP, at that level. I said I'd take it home and let them know. I completed my table by inserting the Roadtrek price and delivery and it came to $111,233. I called salesman and he said he would have to check. He called back to explain that MSRP could be anything dealer wanted it to be and when I said not true; he said that regardless the price stated was the best they could do (i.e. a 13.7% discount). I don't know why a dealer would resort to such a sham as inflating the MSRP thus destroying his credibility. Well maybe because he thought he could based upon other transactions that worked.

RE: Cummins ISC330 type oil to use

I have a 2007 HR Ambassador motor home with a Cummins ISC330 engine. I bought it new approximately 11 months ago. In some of the info that I got when I picked up the motor home it said Citgo 15W-40 heavy duty motor oil was installed at the factory. My question is should I use Citgo 15W-40 heavy duty motor oil or is there a better oil to use for the motorhomes second year of use. Thanks
You must be careful to use 15w-40 API CJ4 oil if this is unit has a 2007 engine.
Here is handy guide for 2007 engine. Note concern that even if the oil meets CJ4 it must also meet Cummins spec for low ash

RE: Cummins oil change

Is this really a 5.9 or an ISB ? If ISB then the ECM will not let engne start until it has oil pressure.

RE: ISL recall serial #s

Henrey,
Do you know what serial #'s are for the ISC engines?
All ISC engines manufactured in 2005 and 2006 except a few that got changed on assembly line in 2006. Call Cummins and they'll check and advise or look at picture above and if you don't have that bracket get it in.

RE: ISL recall serial #s

Thanks for the serial number range. I have a 2005 ISL and my serial number is just before the affected engines.
I'd suggest you call Cummins to verify and not take the list seriously as all 2005 engines were supposed to need it. Another way is to determine whether it is a CAPS fuel system or CRFS which needs it.

RE: Apparently, Roadtreks aren't selling so well

Dealers are waiting on stock units here in SC; so I doubt its a order situation. They are trickling in - one SS due Saturday and an RS due sometime next week at one of the dealers I'm talking to and the other has only one each in stock of several models including one SS and RS. I wrote a fairly detailed letter to company on my experience/issues in dealing with their dealers and received a positive response today and a request I call them. I'm planning to call them tomorrow and I'll ask about closure.
They said it not a close down situation but an announcement will be put on the owners web site and possibly rv.net later today explaining. It would be helpful if anyone is a member of Roadtrek FMCA and has access to CyberRally where it will be posted - pass it on to those of us not members yet since we are only in process of buying. Thanks

RE: ISL recall serial #s

for what year do you think
It is for all 2005-2006 ISL/ISC except possibly some late 2006 where the change was made at time of assembly. That is why the recall notice asks that you look to see if the unit all ready has the bracket.

RE: Saving MPG in everyone's B

The rough ratio is .1MPG for each MPH above 55 and up. The raw formula is Cd x frontal area in sqft x speed in MPH(cubed) Cd being coefficient of drag. The major factor being the cube of speed.
Here is a graph for a big Cummins engine but it generally applies to the notion of impact of speed and other factors.

RE: MSRP Discount

FWIW - I have two identical MSRP's sheets for RS with one difference - one is 2008 on 2007 chassis the other 2008 on 2008 chassis. There is a 4% price increase on base unit - options prices do not change (which isn't surprising since they were just updated on the 2008/2007 sheet).
